Biden Taps Mary Phee to serve as Lead Africa Diplomat
Ambassador Mary Catherine Phee has been Nominated to be President Biden's Assistant Secretary for African Affairs. Phee is a career member of the US Foreign Service who currently serves as the Principal Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconcilliation. She previously served as U.S. Ambassador to South Sudan between 2015 and 2017. She will work closely with the National Security Council to advise the President on US Africa Policy and be responsible for implementing those policies on behalf of the United States Government.
